Soggiorno
In collaboration with the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, Soggiorno is further developing the existing learning platform: in the future, modern language models will be used to automatically generate varied and pedagogically appropriate Italian exercises. These include, among other things, vocabulary tests, fill-in-the-blank exercises, dialogs, quiz questions, and short stories.
What makes this unique is that the content is not only tailored to the learner’s proficiency level and current vocabulary but can also take regional and cultural contexts into account — such as Trieste, Tuscany, or Venice. In this way, the platform connects language learning even more closely with real-life situations, Italian culture, and the personal learning experience.
The project systematically tests various AI models and generation strategies and evaluates them in terms of linguistic quality, didactic suitability, consistency, and the effort required for integration. The goal is a sustainable expansion of the Soggiorno platform that reduces the workload for teachers and enables learners to engage in personalized, varied, and context-sensitive learning.
